Carlos Torres Obituary
Torres, known by many fans simply as "The Captain," was famed as a defender but also for scoring a goal in Brazil's win against Italy in the 1970 World Cup final. His time on the national team as well as on the Santos club team cemented a friendship with his even more famous teammate, Pelé. He finished his playing career with the New York Cosmos from 1977-82. He coached for a number of teams around the world through 2005.
In 2004, Torres was included on the FIFA 100 list of the world's greatest living players. He is honored in both the Brazilian Football hall of fame and the U.S. National Soccer hall of fame.
At the time of his death, Torres had been working as a commentator for Brazil's SporTV. He is survived by a son, Carlos Alexandre Torres, who also was a professional soccer player.

Grief can affect us in various ways, but for many the overriding feeling is one of intense emotional pain. Deep feelings of grief and sorrow when a loved one dies are not incompatible with strong faith in God. Grief is the normal and natural response to the loss of someone we love. My condolence.
