Andy Marte Obituary
The Cleveland Indians paid tribute to their former player on Twitter. "Sad to learn of Andy Marte's death this morning," the team wrote. "He was a genuine person who always greeted you with a warm smile."
The Arizona Diamondbacks also expressed their condolences on Twitter, writing, "We are deeply saddened to hear that former D-back Andy Marte has passed away. Our thoughts are with his loved ones."

Marte played both first base and third base. Marte was a hot young prospect who played in parts of seven seasons in the MLB. He did not reach that early potential, however, hitting .218 with 21 home runs and 99 RBIs during his career. He played for the Indians from 2006 until 2010. His last at-bat was with Arizona in 2014.
His former manager Manny Acta paid tribute to his character. "So sad," he wrote, "without a doubt Andy Marte was one of the nicest human (beings) to ever put a baseball uniform on. RIP"
Marte was playing for Las Aguilas Cibaena in the Dominican League this winter.
