Quebec Mosque Shooting Victims Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 30, 2017.
A shooting Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, at a mosque in Quebec City, Canada, has left at least six people dead, according to Quebec Provincial Police.

Eight others were injured, and 39 people were unharmed, according to CNN.

The attack, which investigators suspect was the work of terrorists, occurred at the Quebec Islamic Cultural Center. According to witnesses, at least two gunmen wearing black fired indiscriminately into a crowd of worshipers at the mosque. Among the worshipers were families, police said, adding that two people have been arrested.

Police also tweeted late Sunday that the crime scene was under control.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his condolences in a Twitter post.

"Tonight, Canadians grieve for those killed in a cowardly attack on a mosque in Quebec City," Trudeau tweeted. "My thoughts are with the victims & their families."

Philippe Couillard, the premier of the Quebec Province, also took to Twitter to describe the attack as an act of terror.

Later, in a statement on his official site, Trudeau wrote:

"It is heart-wrenching to see such senseless violence. Diversity is our strength, and religious tolerance is a value that we, as Canadians, hold dear.

"Muslim-Canadians are an important part of our national fabric, and these senseless acts have no place in our communities, cities and country. Canadian law enforcement agencies will protect the rights of all Canadians, and will make every effort to apprehend the perpetrators of this act and all acts of intolerance."

I wish to give my condolence to the families of this unloving act. God is not responsible, nor does he take delight in the people who caused you such pain. Lamentations 3:33 states "HE will show mercy according to his abundant loyal love. For it is not in his heart to afflict or grieve the sons of men". May you be reassured of this and the promise that God will at Psalm 9:9 "Become a secure refuge for the oppressed, a secure refuge in times of distress." May this bring you comfort, peace and hope for the future.

My name is Tina I live in MO. I am so saddened by this cowardly act of violence.
I have been Praying for all of the families. I am not a Muslim but that does not matter. We all breath the same air and bleed the same color blood. We all are from our great creator. No one should be hurting no one. I hope some day I will find peace in knowing that these families are going to be at peace. When one grieves I feel so very bad. I continue to pray for these families. I also pray that the cowards that did this awful act be put to justice.

Please be Blessed.

My heart is hurting. A mosque is a place of prayer, study, legal and judicial activities, consultation, preaching, guidance, education and preparation. The mosque is the heart of Muslim society. Very soon one,"day the dwellers of Paradise shall think of nothing but their bliss... they shall recline in shady groves upon soft couches. (Surah 36:55, 56, NJD).Psalm 25:13 states: "He will experience what is good, And his descendants will take possession of the earth." What a grand day that will be.

I am saddened that Innocence again has been Victimized and I pray to God for the Families that have been lost and ripped apart through this act violence. I am a Catholic man and in my world we are all children of God and there is room for everyone no matter how we celebrate our faith. All life is precious in the eyes of God and my prayers are with the families that bare deeply the lost of the ones they love. I pray that this hate based on ignorance and intolerance stops. I'm a proud Canadian and in my country there is no room for this kind violence. May God Bless the Families and the Muslim Community for all those lost and injured. I also pray that the violence directed toward all people's in so many countries comes to an end.
