Egypt Church Bombing Victims Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 9, 2017.
Bombings killed at least 44 people at two Coptic Christian churches in Egypt, according to multiple news sources.

The Islamic State group, also called ISIS or ISIL, claimed responsibility for the bombings that took place during Palm Sunday.

The terror group's Amaq media wing said "a security detachment" of the Islamic State carried out the attacks on churches in the cities of Tanta and Alexandria. The bombings also left many injured.

The first attack took place in Tanta at a Palm Sunday service at St. George's Church, killing 25 people and wounding 60 others, state TV reported.

At least 11 people were killed, and 35 others were injured in a suicide bomb attack outside Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria, according to two state news outlets.

Coptic Christians have faced increased attacks in recent years. Coptic Christians make up about 10 percent of Egypt's population of 91 million. The religion is based on the teachings of the Apostle Mark, who introduced Christianity to Egypt.

Pope Francis made a statement on the bombings. "To my dear brother his Holiness Pope Tawadros II, to the Coptic church and to all of the dear country Egypt, I express my deep condolences, I prayed for the dead and the wounded, I am close to the families and to the entire community. God convert the hearts of the people who spread terror, violence and dead, and also the heart of who produces and traffic weapons," the Pope said.

The lost of a loved one is never easy, tragic lost can be devastating but we go on...because we have to, because our loved one would want us to...we go on. There will be many hills and valleys in the days, months, and years to come and eventually the sun will shine again and joyful memories will fill your heart and smiles will come and peace will come.
May the God of all comfort, family and friends give you strength to go on. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew {5:4} The Lord of Compassion will not forsake you in your time of deep sorrow and unbearable grief. "I will turn their mourning into joy, I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow." Jeremiah {31:13}{NRSVCE} May Jesus, the Lord of lords, welcome these victims, His brothers and sisters, into the Kingdom of God. When Jesus was placed on the Cross on Good Friday, His first concern was for His enemies..."Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Luke {23:34} May Jesus, the Prince of Peace, grant unto Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq, and to each country in the Middle East...That Peace that the World can not give.

My prayers to the families of their loved ones. May God give them strength and peace. The families are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless their loved ones. Can we have peace in this world here in the United States and overseas? There are too many innocent people who should still be alive with family and friends. God help the evil to go away. Especially on religious Sundays. And every day.
