U.S. Marine, Navy Plane Crash Victims Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2017.
Sixteen military service members were killed Monday evening in an airplane crash in Leflore County, Mississippi, according to the U.S. Marine Corps.

The corps said in a news release that the crew and passengers consisted of 15 Marines and one Navy corpsman.

“The Marine aircraft that crashed Monday evening was a KC-130T from Marine Aerial Refueling and Transport Squadron (VMGR) 452, Marine Air Group-49, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve,” the statement said.

The flight originated from the Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, North Carolina, “as the squadron was supporting a requirement to transport personnel and equipment from there” to the Naval Air Field in El Centro, California.

Because equipment on board included various small arms ammunition and personal weapons, an explosive ordnance disposal team was dispatched to the scene “as a precaution in the interest of safety,” the Marines said.

“The identities of the personnel whose lives were lost in this tragic accident are still being withheld to allow time for their loved ones to be notified appropriately. While the details of the incident are being investigated, our focus remains on providing the necessary resources and support to the family and friends of these service members as they go through this extremely difficult time,” the statement said.

Gen. Robert Neller, the Marine Corps commandant, released a statement:

“On behalf of the entire Marine Corps, I want to express my deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the aircraft mishap yesterday afternoon in Mississippi. Please keep the families of our 16 fallen service members in your thoughts and prayers.

“Our focus remains on notifying and supporting the families while we conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of this tragedy."

To the Families of these men that went to length in serving. For it is tragic to loose ones In this manor. Sometimes "unforeseen occurrence befall us all." (Eccle. 9:11) But take courage and comfort that our Almighty Heavenly Father of tender mercies has them in his memory and soon we shall be with our loved ones again. (Jh 5:28)

My prayers and heart goes out to these families. Every day, I look at military families and all the sacrifices that are made to keep the country safe, I feel their pain from the prospect as a parent of military sons, their my heart, but this country safety is their beckon of light. These fallen soldiers are heroes in the upmost respect. Blessed these families in their loss, for the tears are still falling in my heart for their devastating moments. It hurts tremendously, but God has their best interest in his hands now.

May God Bless the 16 U.S. Marine, U.S. Navy Plane Crash Victims and May the Good Lord welcome each one of them into the Kingdom of God. Why should we honor, thank, and remember these 15 U.S. Marines and 1 Navy corpsman who have given to America, as Abraham Lincoln once said, "their last, full measure of devotion?" BECAUSE THEY LET COURAGE DO THEIR TALKING, WE ARE FREE TO SPEAK OUR MINDS. BECAUSE THEY FOUGHT AGAINST TYRANNY, WE ARE FREE TO WORSHIP AS WE PLEASE. BECAUSE THEY GAVE UP THE COMFORTS OF HOME, WE ARE FREE FROM WANT. BECAUSE THEY PUT THEMSELVES IN HARM'S WAY, WE ARE FREE TO LIVE WITHOUT FEAR...America, the Land of the Free...BECAUSE of the Brave!
