Rancho Tehama School Shooting Victims Obituary
Officials now confirm that the shooter's wife has been found dead in her home.
In addition to the five known victims, the gunman was killed by police.
“At this point, the suspected shooter is deceased by law enforcement bullets,” Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told reporters.
Authorities said the shooting occurred around 8 a.m. in Rancho Tehama at the Rancho Tehama Elementary School. The area is about 120 miles Northwest of Sacramento, California.
Sheriff Johnston said that students had been airlifted from the scene with injuries.
Authorities described a chaotic scene in which the gunman appeared to pick targets at random. They said the shootings appear to have begun as “domestic violence incident” but did not provide details.
