Jerry was a very kind man. Met him in Hot Springs, Arkansas once as he was looking to buy one of the old bathhouses to turn it into an ice cream Parlor. He was very kind & always loved meeting his fans. He knew how to make people laugh & very good at it. Loved Jerry very much. I was a huge fan & was very sad to hear of his passing.

I am so sorry for the loss of Jerry. While words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, we look forward to the time when words will fail to capture the joy of having our heavenly Father return your dear one to you

Our family enjoyed Jerry's restaurant in the revitalized downtown of Benton, Ark. (He restored the entire block!) There was tasty food and marvelous items from his career and hobbies decorating the interior. My favorite adornment was an over-sized group portrait of 4 dashingly handsome men in tuxedos. They were all products of Danville, Ill. -- DICK VAN DYKE; his lil' bro JERRY; along with childhood friends BOBBY SHORT (the singer / pianist;) and GENE HACKMAN (the actor.) They posed at an emerald hued foliage location in their hometown. If that picture could talked, I'd like to think it would have said: "We prevailed, are forever friends and love oneanother."
Everyone here believes Mrs Van Dyke and Jerry moved back to Arkansas because they mistook it for Heaven.
My sympathies to those whose 'hearts smiled' because they loved him; and to those who 'smiled on-the-outside' at Jerry Van Dyke's comedic talents too!

To the Van Dick family and friends,
It is so truly so sad to hear about the passing of Jerry Van Dyke. From 1962 - 1965 Jerry made his television acting debut on "The Dick Van Dyke" show with several guest appearance as Rob Petrie's brother Stacey, i love The Dick Van Dyke show which it is so funny that make you fall your chair. I remember growing up, watch the Mary Tyler Moore show the he made 2 guest appearance which he Played Wes Callison From 1972 - 1973. From 1989 - 1997 Van Dyke began porytraying Luther Van Dam, a beloved yet befuddled assistant Coach on the long-running series Coach. For his role, he received four consective Emmy Award nominations (1990 through 1993) for outstanding Supporting Actor in Acamedy Series, we all used watch the show in the 90's, i catch the reruns of Coach on the Antenna channel. Thanks for the laughter, memories that you giving to to us, your legacy will live on. Jerry was a husband, brother, uncle, father and grandfather which looks down on all of his family, still watch over you all. Just cherish the memories that have. We all know he is in a good place now. My thoughts, prayers are with you all.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

I have and always will be a fan of both Jerry and Dick. Just recently as I was reading a December article in the WSJ about Rose Marie (before her passing) how much I enjoyed the Van Dykes...You see, I'm probably the world's only "Dick Van Dyke" impersonator and I perform ion my own "murder mystery theaters" as 'Dr. Mark Sloan, of Diagnosis: Murder."
Yes I will miss Jerry, and long live Dick Van Dyke, guys and brothers who gave us a great gift, laughter. Tim Beasley, Virginia Beach, VA
