I had Chuck Knox for 8th grade science at Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, PA back in 1956-57. He was also our head football coach. I had a teenaged crush on him!! His family lived behind us in Ewing Park. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Once Coach Knox landed in Seattle the Seahawks became legit. He brought swagger, resilience, toughness and a winning attitude to our fledgling team. But what really matters is the man himself and what he stood for. Integrity, honesty and hard work. He treated those around him as men and with respect. That is the true measure. Rest peacefully till you rise again. Family and loved ones know that he was loved and respected in Seattle and the entire state of Washington.

As a Seahawk fan I was so excited when Coach Knox was hired in Seattle. As his first season progressed we were rewarded with dynamic results.
I was fortunate to be introduced to him by his daughter, Kathy, with whom I was a colleague at a Seattle area school. It was my pleasure to have a short conversation with Coach Knox one evening at a high school football game in which his son was playing. His charisma was inspiring and his manner very genuine. My condolences to Kathy and all those related and to those touched by his friendship and leadership.

A coaching legend. I was a big fan of many of his teams, most notably those Ram teams in the '70s. Though many of his teams had great passing attacks, it was their hard nosed "Ground Chuck" style that really stood out. His career even included a cameo in the movie "Paper Lion," when he was an assistant on Joe Schmidt's staff back in '67!
Coach Knox always handled himself like a professional, and a man's man. Rest in Peace, Sir, and thank you for your remarkable role in a great era in football history.
