Albert Lexie Obituary
Lexie’s generosity gained him notoriety, he appeared on “Oprah,” and was honored at a MLB All-Star game. He won many awards and is a member of the Hall of Fame for Caring Americans. The hospital published his biography in 2002. “Albert’s Kids: The Heroic Work of Shining Shoes for Sick Children,” is available for a donation to the free care fund.

Mr. Lexies smile shows his happiness. He was a generous big hearted man who imitated Jesus by being sincerely interested in the welfare of others, especially children; and by looking for ways to care for their needs. What a meaningful contribution he made to our society! My condolences to his family. May the God of peace comfort you during this time of loss.

I grew up in Monessen and remember Albert so well. We were neighbors .
I did not realize he passed .
There is a message from him and God
I already own his book.Today I put it on my coffee table and re-read it.
My daughter picked it up and started reading it.
Great human being and I hoped that I could congratulate him in person.
This evening I googled his name and read that he passed.
Sad news, but we all know he is flying high.

There is a Gospel song called, The Glove. The gist of it is that the singer sings, "God, let me be the glove You wear." Albert was a glove that God has used to bless others. I, too, was a shoeshine boy when I was a teen. It was hard and at times, very humiliating work. I got $.50 a pair shined. So tips were very appreciated. I know how hard it was and how tired he could be. The Bible says that we don't get saved by what we do, but, Albert acted like a saint. He showed us how to live. May God bless you, his family, at this difficult and sad time. God, we ask you comfort this family today, In Jesus' Name we ask this, Amen.
