I thank you Mr. Pei for not only the wonderful opportunity I had working on your architectural masterpieces, but more importantly for the chance to learn how you motivated others around you, the professionalism you've shown, and the steadfast trust you placed in us. Your legacy will live on in each of our lives you've touched.

As a student at Fredonia State University, both in 1975-77 and again in 79-81, from the steps of the library, Maytum, and McEwen to the grande King Concert Hall in Rockefeller, that campus was my home away from home. Its spaciousness and strength gave me the spiritual freedom I needed to find autonomy as an artist, and I will always credit I M PEI for creating the atmosphere he knew we all needed. I appreciate his kindness to me when I was a freshman at Miami University of Ohio School of Fine Arts. He was there to help critic the Roman Baths for our graduating Architecture class and there came an opportunity for him to talk to me. I have never forgotton his kindness and still have the sketch of own personal Roman Bath.
