Dear Wilma, Michael and Anne, Katherine, and Jon and your families, I remember meeting your Dad up at Camp Woodstock and Michael and Anne - we enjoyed many baseball and football games together as Bob helped coach along with you Michael. Instead of playing baseball and football, Derek is now racing stock cars for a hobby. He loves racing and he is a very good driver. He races all over the states including Illinois where he lives, Texas, Georgia, Ohio and several others. And Garth lives in San Francisco and worked for the drug company, Genentech. Both are very happy and doing very well, but I must say, I sure wish they lived closer. So sorry for your loss and may your Dad rest in peace.

Sgt. Currey was an exceptional example of America's "Greatest Generation". He refused to be beaten even though the odds of his succeeding were miniscule. His bravery and courage in the line of fire are beacons of inspiration for all our Military personnel today. Mr. Currey may be gone now, but his dedication to his fellow soldiers and his Country will live on as long as our flag continues to fly. May he rest in peace. It hurts to lose great people like Francis. His whole life and not just one day, is one of integrity. Think about all who have come and gone in life, who would loved to have lived a life just half as good as his. I am honored to be considered a fellow veteran to Francis. A quiet and unassuming man, Mr. Currey was my Little League coach some 56 years ago, and to whom I had the great pleasure of meeting many years later, and having the good fortune to introduce my son too. If there is one thing I am sure of regarding Sergeant First Class Francis Currey it is that there are generations of children and grandchildren that are here today because a 19 year old Private not only stood his ground but advanced in the face of sheer terror to halt an advance of German Tanks.
