I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family for the loss of a talented man, who will be remembered for his shopping network, that I love to use all the time. May you find comfort and strength in God during this time of mourning.

I worked directly for Joe at Presidential Airways and RateSearch, 2 companies he founded. Each year with Joe was equal to ten years elsewhere. We did it once, did it accurately, do it the best, and always give people more than they expect. And Joe taught me it was ok to start a sentence with And, much as you would while casually speaking to someone. Family, health, business, and always think big. One day Joe asked me, what would it cost to charter the Concord from Philadelphia to Geneva? He was looking for ways to build visits to Le Mirador, his hotel in Vevey, Switzerland. That was when the Concord could only fly into Washington Dulles Airport. we held water tasting tests in the conference room of bottled and local tap water for water to be put into the drinking water tanks on the jets of Pres. Air. Details. Details. Details. If a person had an idea Joe liked, that person led the project. And he didnt hesitate to put his money behind it. His family, Philadelphia and the world have said good bye to a very private, very quiet yet very gracious leader. You did well Joe. And thank you for our time together.

In the summer of 1986 a friend and I took a train from Philly to NYC to see Stevie Nicks in concert at Madison Square Garden. Having misread the schedule, we missed the last Amtrak back to Philly, and ended up on the last Greyhound Bus back to Philly. The bus was packed, so my friend and I had to sit apart. I ended up sharing a seat with a woman who spent the day in NYC shopping with her daughter. She was fascinated, and fascinating. "So let me get this straight, you follow this woman (Stevie Nicks) all over the country just to see her perform?", "Have you ever met her?". My answers were a simple, "Yes, and No". She told me her husband was a successful business man, his latest endeavor, of which she did not approve, was a home shopping cable network. I remember thinking how this bus trip reminded me of a movie I had recently seen, A Trip to Bountiful. When we pulled into the Greyhound terminal in center city Philadelphia, I helped her off with her packages and met her driver, who I believe was named Mr. Larry, or Mr. Lennard? She wished me luck and said she hoped I would meet this Stevie Nicks woman I followed so faithfully one day. Although I never met Joseph Segel, it would seem I met his wife, and step daughter one hot 1986 August night on A NYC Greyhound bound for Philly, and, 8 years later, I would indeed meet Stevie Nicks at an after show party in Los Angeles. RIP, Mr & Mrs Segel.

I met Mr. Segel working at the Franklin Mint in Yeadon. I was just a kid. My mother was the bookkeeper across from BMV. I answered the phone one day in not a professional way and Mr. Segel corrected me in kindness. I later worked at the mint across from Wawa. I later worked for Dick Hodgson, Westtown (QVC) who was on the Board. Great men in my life's path. I am honored. My husband also worked as an accountant at FM years ago. I still have many of the gifts purchased and cherish each piece of the many greats employed from that time.
Mr. Segel, rest in peace as I know you will.
