Pete, Tommy Joe Crutcher, Maxie Baughn et al were also investors in Southwest Grain in South Texas. These gentlemen were so kind to my family at that time. Susan Allen

I had the privilege of knowing Pete and his family in Brookings, SD. I babysat for their children. I fondly remember him coming home after spring training in Hershey, PA - he always brought me a huge Hershey candy bar with almonds. He was a true gentleman, husband and father. He will be truly missed by many, especially his family, children, grandchildren and friends. My heartfelt sympathy.

Pete was not only a great player, but a gentle and kind soul to everyone who ever had the opportunity of knowing him. I was one of the fortunate who worked with him when he was at WIP and was honored to know the man. Sympathies to his family and may Pete rest in peace. Kathy Calhoun

I had the privilege to know Pete as a parent since I coached his son Jim as a pole vaulter and as an active community member in his efforts to help get our local high school an all-weather track. In both roles I found him to be supportive and humble. He never carried himself as someone superior to or more knowledgeable than others in spite of his significant status and fame. He was an "All-Pro" in the truest sense of the word. JoeMcGlinchey

A great member of that halcyon group from the 50's and 60's that
Includes Del Shofner, Boyd Dowler, Frank Gifford and Jon Arnett
Among others. He had great hands and was fearless.

My condolences to the family, friend, and fans of Mr. Retzlaff. May you find comfort not only in your memories but in the fact that he was loved by others. Also comforting to know is that our Heavenly Father invites you to throw all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.

Always one of my favorite Eagles players. My family was living near Philadelphia back in the 50's and my dad took me to see the Eagles play the Steelers at Franklin Field in 1958. Pete scored in that game the best I can recall. Great memories. RIP sir!
