I was deeply sadden to hear of Emitt's passing. I first met Emitt when he was in the Palace Guard and I was into photography, capturing many of the bands at the Hullabaloo and then when he went on to form the Merry Go Round. We are all so lucky to have had him in our lives and to have his last album as a final gift to us all. My condolences to his family, rest in peace dear friend.

Loved Emitt's music from that very first album in 1970. A few years back I played the music for my now 19 year old daughter ans she loves it too. We were both very sad to see that he had passed.

As a senior in High School,1970 I ordered Emitt's first album After hearing an interview on a Cleveland underground radio station. Loved the songs, loved the words more, lost the album when a girlfriend threw it away while stored in her H.S. locker. Now nearly 50 years later I hear of Emitt again, the legend and music lives on Find peace Emitt, hope you know that your music was my background tunes in a better time.

The passing of Emitt Rhodes brings a great sadness. His musical talents far exceeded the recognition he revived for them. While most stories about Emitt focus on “Live”, my personal favorite is the moody, insightful, fully-produced “You’re a Very Lovely Woman” about a man who steps back at the last moment from an affair with said woman.

One of my fondest memories was seeing the Merry-Go-Round in concert when they were the opening act for the Byrds in the Sixties. It was so much fun that I've never forgotten it.

Rest In Peace
I did several records at his studio in his garage in Hawthorne back in the early 1980s. He was so young then, and he was a bigger talent and more accomplished than I ever knew. He never let on that he was this massive legendary guy. He was beyond talented, and Ill never forget him.

My heart goes out to any and all family and friends of Emitt Rhodes. Emitt was undoubtedly the best 'one man band' this world has ever known. I would have given anything to have had the chance to play drums for Emitt...like he wasn't already one the greatest and most tasteful drummers in the world as well. I did try and had sent him some emails, but to no avail. My favorite song in the world was, and always will be, "Live". I can't thank Emitt enough for all the many years of musical enjoyment he has given to me and the world. Rest in peace, Emitt. You more than paid your dues.
