Truly a great animator, producer and programmer- Joe Ruby ranks right up there with Lou Scheimer, Norm Prescott, Hal Sutherland, Friz Freleng, Arthur Rankin Jr., William Hanna, Joseph Barbera, Chuck Jones, Lee Gunther, etc. The animators I've listed have been a major part of my childhood, growing up. I remember watching the very last Saturday morning program that Ruby-Spears produced for ABC, namely the 2nd season of the Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa, taking over for Gunther-Wahl. This was before R-S presented Mega Man and Skysurfer Strikeforce, back in the 1990's. Many condolences to Joe's wife, Carole, children, especially sons Craig and Cliff with his daughter-in-law, Elana and numerous grandchildren. Joe lived a long life and as animation fans, we need to thank both him and Ken Spears for giving us a generation of some great animated entertainment!!!

A personal message for Mrs. Ruby.
I send our most sincere condolences Mrs. Ruby, to you and your family.
Our 38 year old special needs daughter, was one of Scooby Doo's biggest fans. Mr. Ruby brought sincere enjoyment to Melissa. She was a very big fan of Scooby Doo, she has been for a fan for years. Her favorite movie was "Zombie Island". Melissa would wear the movie out, so we kept a spare on hand. I wish I had let Mr. Ruby know of Melissa's love for Scooby Doo, how much his creation lived in her life. How much we thank him for the happiness he helped to bring to her life. I understand and share your loss, for we lost our Melissa, April this year. Our most sincere condolences to you and your family.

Scooby-Doo is a touchstone of American pop culture, something just about all of us are familiar with. Scooby has brought lots of fun into my life and others' lives since 1969. Thank you, Joe, for your part in creating the beloved franchise.
