Diane was my teacher in the early nineties. Thanks to her I see the centrality of poetry; though it we connect with each other, in a way no other art form can do. I am so sorry to learn of her death.

Since seeing Diane di Prima read "Light Poem" in Bob Mann's film Poetry in Motion I have attracted to her visionary work as a POET. Her style and substance, her magnetic speaking voice drew me into a world of language that to this day I happily inhabit. A beautiful and sensuous woman, her photograph inspires me to write. She granted me permission to celebrate my own language universe.

Diane was, and is to me, a kind of spirit guide. Over 30 years of her warm and unwavering friendship are tucked into my heart. I think of her as a prophet who spoke through her poems and her life.
