My deepest condolences to the Grant family.
I was lucky to have shared a hospital room with Chief Saginaw in the early 90's in Tulsa, Oklahoma meeting him and some family and friends visiting him while beading his pony tails. What an incredibly humbled man he is with endless words of wisdom and a wonderful circle of family and friends.
May he rest in peace.

I remember meeting him at pow wow in Balboa Park, San Diego. I offered him my right hand for hand shake. It was a mistake as I had just gotten out of a cast for two broken bones in my hand. He almost put me back in a cast with his hand shake. He was a great leader and role model for many.

He was a good friend, mentor and elder. I am honored to have been his friend and that he knew my parents when they were alive. We always looked out for each other at gatherings and I am humbled that he trusted me and my boys. May he rest easy and dance on the other side.

An elder, an iconic Natuve American actor and public speaker. Saginaw, you moved out of your hometown of Oklahoma to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. You found your CA family within the pow wow community as well as the movie industry here in California. People were just fascinated with your presence everywhere you go. Whether you know it or not, you have left such a tremendous impact in the world and you will never be forgotten. It is not everyday that someone from a small town in Oklahoma becomes such a household name. You have paved a way for others to pursue their dreams. Perhaps I never thank you enough, Saginaw when you were still with all of us as many times we take for granted that those we care about will just live forever. So here I am signing this guestbook to say "Thank You". Two simple words but words that are worth gold . You reminded us all that a simple words of thank you is so important. There were many of your closest friends at your celebration of life memorial who spoke of great memories that they shared with you. Saginaw, your legacy will live on in the hearts of many. I promise to always take care of the two dogs you loved so much, Lila your foster English bulldog and Sasha (I will never forget that one weekend when you skipped going to a pow wow becsuse you did not want to leave her home alone). Thank you for the compassion you have for animals, your words of wisdom and for always reminding me to "never use the word worry" and that e everything will be OK.
Rest in peace on the other side, Saginaw. Heaven gained a wise angel.

Gracious person, that I had the honor of meeting. I met him over my motorcycle. Was at a POW WOW and he walked over to see the painting on my bike. It was of him.. If i could pick anyone to show what my childhood was, Saginaw would be it.. I grew up in the southern cali pow wow circuit and he was amazing to watch. Anyone i introduced to the pow wows but didn't know what they were will be mesmerized when he would walk past a lot of them didn't know the culture not to take pictures without asking i would correct them and they thought is he a chief? Lol... My Grandma knew him and would joke with him when she would see him.. I really wanted to see him one more time at a pow wow.. Rest peacefully you are loved and a legend... Thank you for your service and presence..
