You have our deepest sympathy words can´t express the pain that comes with losing someone you have loved and shared your life with. But God had other plans for we know not the day or the hour. So glad that I got to know Rich outside of his work and know him as the husband, the father, the grandfather and friend. He surely will be missed by all.

My condolences to Rich´s family. I served on President Trumka´s AFL-CIO Executive Board until my retirement . On my last day he asked me to lunch and thanked me for my unions growth and my support for him . I was touched deeply because it was I who owed him thanks for his leadership and dedication that was so inspirational to me.

So sorry to hear of Richard's death. We knew this wonderful man back in the 60's when he babysat for our children back in Kennedy Township. He was great then and turned out to be even greater helping so many.

Our heartfelt condolences to Rich's family. He was my boss at one time, but was always my friend. He hired me as an Int'l. Safety Rep. & later it was an honor to serve as the UMWA Dist.4 IEB. We spoke often & he never forgot where he came from or those he worked for. His love for those in labor never ceased. His love & memory for the coal miner will forever be remembered. RIP my brother & my friend.

I met Rich when as a young Dept Of Labor investigator when he was running for District 4 UMWA President and was unfairly denied eligibility to run for office. Rich came to our Pittsburgh field office and after investigating all the evidence we filed suit in Federal District Court on Rich’s behalf and the case was settled in his favor on the courthouse steps at the same time Rich and 60 buses of supporters were protesting outside the Courthouse.. the rest is history and I knew Rich was the real deal as soon as I met him.. Rich and I maintained our professional friendship and I was just about to get on his calendar to catch up I come from a family mining heritage and my heart goes out to Barbara and Rich Jr. and all your family. Rich was a real hero to me for the great person he was and the legacy that lives on through his life’s work. Our prayers are with you and I know Rich is experiencing what eye has not seen and ear has not heard in God’s eternal kingdom.

I want to extend my condolences to the family of Mr. Richard Trumka. Although I never met Mr. Trumka, it is evident from what has been written about him that he was a true American who worked hard for the members of the AFL-CIO union. I was impressed by his concern that there were too many union members and I am sure non-union citizens who could not accept the election of a Black man as President of the United States. The fact that President Biden considered him a friend supports my positive impression of Mr. Trumka.
