To the family, many, many friends, and colleagues of this wonderful man Mr. Maki Kaji fine comfort with you during this difficult time in your lives. The legacy Mr. Maki Kaji left behind was known as the "father of Sudoku" for bringing the number puzzle to a worldwide audience will not be forgotten. May the God of all comfort who is the hearer of prayers be with you in your time of need with his loving kindness and peace as He strengthens you to cope during this difficult time. May family, friends and extended family cherish his memories.

Pythagoras said everything was number and so the AI brigade made the haystack bigger, harder to find the needle. Maki Kaji invoked the human algorithm to find the outstanding 55 or so numbers, and in the process exercised our cognition. If Einstein is right in that if there is a 4th world war, it will be fought with sticks and stones, then maybe Kaji played a big role in averting it, well hopefully anyway.
And a pleasant gentlemen he apparently was.
Sudoku was very apt for us creative Irish, getting us to work both sides of the brain, one stimulating the other. Freud said we defied all matter of psychoanalysis but it looks like Mr Sudoku didn't bother trying to figure us out, he empowered us to do it ourselves.
