First I'm hearing this...so sorry to the family and much gratitude for all of the fun times at the Dewey residence up north! The music, the laughter, the food and above all the hospitality. A credit to this world!!!!!

My late father fought along side Duane at OP-3 when Duane pulled that second grenade into his hip/butt to smother it. In the Spring of 2002, I, along with my father and several other former Marines from E-2-5, including Duane and the Navy Medic who was working in him that night, traveled to Korea for a 50 year reunion/dedication ceremony for the Marines who were killed that night. Duane was a fabulous person and very humble. He was easy to approach and talk to. On that trip, his fellow Marines put loving pressure on Duane to make sure Duane wore his MOH in public when we attended the ceremony at the Truce Buildings and the new OP-3 site. Duane was very modest and didn’t want to stand out. That was the Duane I knew for the week I spent with him and his fellow Marines in 2002. Quite a guy my dad would say! He certainly was in my opinion.
