One of the best in all TV history. I still laugh at the Dame and Sir Les. What a loss to us all.

I most admired his gift of painting the landscapes around coastal Victoria and told him as much during a family wedding celebration many years ago. It was a typically sweltering day on the Mornington Peninsula, the sun shining and the waves gently rolling in on Somers Beach and I often think back to our reserved conversation about the beauty of Australia, it's "siren's call" for local artists, and his somewhat unsung talent for capturing the light and nature on the canvas.

I truly hope that when Barry reached the Pearly Gates of heaven, he revealed to St Peter that despite him polishing his lance vigorously over many many years, his knighthood never came... although Sir Les Patterson did; several times. :-)

God rest your soul, Mr JB Humphries. Your humour and Dadaist entertainment skills were 100% priceless. They shall be forever missed - yet, shall still be perpetually immortalised, via any peeled Satsuma being deftly placed beneath the derriere of an unwitting person found lowering themselves into their theatre Stalls’ seat. :-)

I loved Barry portraying Dame Edna Everage. "Her" outrageous outfits and comments made me laugh till I cried. We lost such a unique comedian.

A national treasure who did not take himself, or other celebrities, too seriously. One of the sharpest, wittiest people to ever entertain the globe. A terrible loss to the entertainment world.

One of the top four Our-Great-Aussie-Expats (Robert Hughes, Clive James, Germaine Greer and Barry) who lampooned us mercilessly, won our hearts, and helped us on our never-ending journey out of cultural cringe. We all love Barry and need a replacement to guide us. Ta-ta Poss xxx
