MOON MAN, SHANNON THE CANNON! I only knew Mike as a great 3rd baseman, filling the replacement of another 3rd baseman, Ken Boyer. WOW, What an impressive infield St. Louis had. Shannon at 3rd, Maxwell at short stop, Javier at 2nd and a multitude of out standing men at 1st base. WOW, can they get any better!!!!! Then the outfield, Brock in left, Flood in center and Orlando Cepeda in right.

When I was a kid maybe 12-13 years old my parents took me to his old restaurant after the game for a cheeseburger. It was a midweek game and not a crowd and I asked the waiter if Mr. Shannon came in and he had just walked in and he came and sat down the whole time until my dad paid for the bill talking and carried on a conversation with us until we left. I´ll never forget it. 1st class guy all the way!

Growing up on a farm in west central Illinois I remember working in the fields at night. As an avid Cardinal fan I would have the game on listening to Mike and Jack. Always made feel like I was at the game. Thanks Mike. R.I.P

Please accept my sympathy.
Jim and I spent many enjoyable times with Mike. CBC auctions among them.. I remember when Jim tried to get one of Mike´s hunting rifles repaired from the fire.
So many good memories.
I knew him when he went to CBC,
And I know how much he loved his family.
My Grandmother played cards with
Judy´s Grandmother.
God bless all of you.

My great grandpa and my dad listened to St Louis anytime they could. Mike Shannon was my favorite announcer tied with Jack Buck. Thanks to the family for sharing such a man with the cardinal fans. Always loved his `get up baby, get up´ as the ball launched out. Rest in peace you are healed now Mike.

I remember Mike as a young minor leaguer with the Atlanta Crackers...
I was just a boy falling in love with baseball.....
Who would know that years later, working for the Braves that I would have Mike as a friend; and see him as a generous, fun loving person, knowledgeable broadcaster, proud son of St. Louis and a devoted life long Cardinal.
God bless and keep you, Mike Shannon

My memories of Mike are of laughter, enjoyment and baseball. Having the opportunity, as a kid who grew up with baseball memories articulated in my mind in the voices of Jack and Mike - I never dreamed I´d get to know Mike and get to know most of his amazing kids. He brought joy and laughter to every room. He´ll be incredibly missed.

One of my earliest memories is watching Mike Shannon play 3rd base for the St.Louis Cardinals, and I am 68 years old.
I watched him, then I listened to him for years and years. There was never a more soothing voice than his....a rhythm and cadence that said "summertime".
He loved Lake of Egypt in Southern Illinois and that made him even more down-to-earth for me as that is our family´s home place.
I and my family will miss him dearly.
RIP, Mike Shannon.
Sincere condolences to his family.

I've been a Cardinal fan since 1960, when I played first base for my grade five baseball team: the Cardinals. I remember Mike in '64 against the Yankees. More important over the years, I remember him on KMOX. Even though the signal was hard to pull in up in Toronto, Mike's voice was unmistakable, lovely to hear, full of humour. I loved the way he would sign off, "So long for just a while." Thanks, Mike. So long. You are remembered.
