Harvey G lived in the room at Sewell Hall above mine. He was rarely there as he was running internationally. When he did come back from overseas he was such a joy to be around. When he walked into the dining room at Sewell Hall, his energy lit up the room. He was a first class gentleman and true Olympic champion both on and off the track. Rest in peace Harvey G.

I was a third grade student at Matthews Elementary in Columbus, Ga when Mr. Glance visited our classroom. I remember he sat with us and talked with us, always smiling. He had a gold medal with him and I was a curious child, so asked if I could touch it. He said, "Here, try it on," and put it on me. I have shared that story so many times about the kindness and smile of Mr. Glance. My condolences.

To the family, many, many friends, and fans to one of this award-winning track and field athlete Harvey Glance. Harvey Glance was a track star who won a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics. We will miss Harvey Glance's presence and his many contributions to his community and the Olympics track and field games. May the love and the special memory you shared and cherish with him show just how much your life was touched by him. May you find comfort in your wealth of fond memories together with Harvey Glance. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Harvey Glance. He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.

Harvey and I personally got to coach together at Auburn University his first five years there. I was incredibly sadden to hear of his passing as the two of us got along famously and had so many great memories together. I left Auburn in 1996 to move back to Oregon to help with my parents. We stayed in touch and forever had a friendship out of love and appreciation of each other. He was such a wonderful spirit of a person. Love to his family and I was happy to make his funeral and celebration of his life. It was a very special day! Harvey made a huge difference in so many peoples lives. I dearly miss you!! God Bless!!

RIP my friend. We started out in a place were we was loved and nourish, by a group of young men, that came before us, who taught us that we could be, whatever we wanted to be. All we needed to do was, was to put the work in, be respectful, and humbled, and your dreams will become a reality. This was the wisdom that was handed down to us in the streets of Fred Douglas Apts, as we played, whatever was in season. Now today, as we celebrate your life, you are the one who shinned the brightest. And many know you because of that. But we know you, because we are known by you, as little boys, trying to find our lane in life. Boy did you find yours. A Life well loved, and lived. A True Champion!

Harvey and I are very close brothers from day when we met at Auburn. And yes we are still brothers even though God has come and taken him Home. Harvey and I became brothers the first day we meet on Auburn campus back in 1976 as freshmen. We kept in touch with each other from 76 to now. We always keep in touch with each other he was my brother from day one. My father and step mother always had him eating dinner with the Browns in B'HAM. Harvey Glance was my favorite sprinter for many years. This news is shocking to say the least, i too was a former sprinter and only three years younger than him. When i saw his upper body that got me motivated to hit the weights, my times improved a lot as a result. My deepest condolences to his family and all those who knew him.

I met Harvey Glance in the Fred Douglas apartments in Phenix City. He loved a foot race and I lost every sprinting competition that we had but I did win racing around the block. Inspiration from our childhood races inspired me to complete marathons in New York city and Atlanta but Edward won olympic gold which we are proud of. Edward congratulations on a well lived life of perfection,dignity, love and respect.
