Jeffrey has gifted me in a way that, sadly, I never got a chance to share with him. Yet....
Along with Susan Hart, he was responsible for giving me a modicum of confidence to portray a Shakespearean character I´d never have otherwise risked, and years later, in his final act as a mentor of the classics (Arthur Miller), he inadvertently, connected me with a most cherished writing partner and Friend. Jeffrey cast Stephen Fedo and I in a scene from one of Miller´s lesser known scripts, and in our rehearsal, Steph and I jokingly mused how that one scene could easily be the premise of an entirely separate play. One joke led to a more contemplative discussion, which led to a coffee house conversation, which then led to more weekly meetings like that one, and before we knew it, we were writing a play - completely *not inspired by Arthur Miller! When Steph called me on that fateful week in July to share the tragic news, it was obvious what must happen - finish writing the damn play, bring to its fullest fruition, and dedicate it to our Beloved Jeffrey. Thanks to Jeffrey, I feel creatively alive again after a prohibitive theatre drought brought on by senseless COVID restrictions. Thanks to Jeffrey, I get to enjoy weekly, delightful diversions from the mundane. Thanks to Jeffrey, I have the privilege of working with a far more accomplished writer - precisely what´s needed for me to become better at my craft *and one who is acting as dramaturge for a play I´ve been tormentedly nursing for decades! And as absurd as it may seem, thanks to Jeffrey, I had someone I could cry with at The Den Theatre for nearly 3 solid hours on 11 September, 2023...
Jeffrey, you are officially appointed my Muse. And it is my Heart´s Desire to repay you in this creative manner most befitting of your generous, beautiful Spirit. You are missed and Loved greatly. And as equally meaningful, you are Appreciated beyond measure.

Jeff was always ready with a smile, a silly joke, or a shoulder when friends needed him. He was a brilliant flame in the world, and that light will shine on with his memory. He was a good man, an incredibly great actor, and the world will miss him terribly. Goodbye, old friend.
