Alice Morris Obituary

Alice Muriel Faulconer Morris

Alice Muriel Faulconer Morris passed away on January 31, 2022, at Dogwood Village Health & Rehab Center in Orange, Virginia. She was the fourth daughter of Richard Hugh and Lottie Caroline Knight Faulconer and was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Lena Maude F. Stephens, Eleanor Frances F. Curtis, Emily Mae F. Davis and Georgianna Idaleine F. Hurlock. She also survived her brothers; James William, Archer Franklin, Benjamin Randolph and Arthur Bernard. Alice also lived beyond her husband of 39 years, Lloyd Arthur Morris, Jr.

Her survivors include her daughter of 58 years, Carolyn Faulconer Sedwick; three grandchildren: Lesli Sedwick, H. Benjamin Sedwick IV and wife Sunshine, Richard H. Sedwick and wife Allison. Six great-grandchildren: Caroline H. Sheusi, Charles S. Sheusi, T. Meadow Sedwick, Harry B. Sedwick, V, Harper L. Sedwick and Peyton B. Sedwick. She is also survived by nephews and nieces: James W. Faulconer and wife, Mary; Richard C. Faulconer and wife Teri; Jay W. Faulconer and wife, Farran; Dorothy Curits Hall; Kimberly Faulconer Gentry and husband Todd; H. Dean Faulconer Blackly and loving cousin, Allen (Red) Faulconer and wife Barbara.

Alice worked for her father in the Spotsylvania Commissioner of Revenue Office and the telephone company before joining Hilldrup Transfer and Storage Company (which later became United Van Lines) under C.G. McDaniel {Mr. Mac}. She stayed with the company for 50 years until her retirement.

The McDaniel family belongs to her. After that she went on to work for some years at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Services.

Her life's work has always been to love her God, her family, and her community. She was a member of Beta Mu Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority which held the Moving Tape each year to raise monies for the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad. Alice was elected Girl of the Year for going beyond what was simply adequate toward the betterment of her community. She was also very active in her church, Fairview Baptist and was a Sunday School teacher as well as a member of the Adult Choir. She has been a hospitality greeter and volunteer at Mary Washington Hospital for 25 plus years as well as Spotsylvania Regional Hospital. But her love of giving was sending cards to those who were sick or house-bound or in unfortunate times. Every week she sent messages of encouragement and hope to people she knew or to people who's loved ones she knew. She was a breath of love and hope to so many.

Alice wished for several special friends to be thanked and acknowledged for their love of her throughout her life. They are; Robert Hicks, Pete Marshall, Ken Framer, Judy Edwards and Ida Robinson.

A private family service was held February 19, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with Preddy Funeral Home in charge for the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 900 Charlotee Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

Cousin Alice was a delightful lady who loved to smile and like people. She was a happy person.
Each of her employments offered her the opportunity to share great PR...she was just a natural when it came to being friendly. She made a real impact on the world around her. Thank you for touching our lives.

Lenny and I remember Alice's mother, Aunt Lottie but did not really meet until we met her at the funeral home for the funeral of a friend and she introduced herself. Lovely lady, friendly and caring. Thank you for touching our lives.

My deepest condolences to Alice´s family, Alice was a very dear friend to me, I worked with Alice at Hilldrip and when Lloyd passed I asked her if I could start going to church with her. Alice is the reason that I know Jesus today. And I´m so thankful she was in my life. I had no idea that she passed until I went to my moms grave today and saw fresh dirt at her´s and Lloyd´s grave. She will be missed deeply.

Alice and her family have been friends with my mother's family for over a century. I remembered her serene quality and my mother and grandmother always spoke highly of her. She was a lady, a kind lady. Our family friend Margaret admired her qualities. May the family receive peace at this time of reflection.

Our deepest sympathy to Alice´s family. She was the kindest, sweetest lady. She welcomed John and I to Fairview when we were a young couple, and she was always very caring and attentive to our children who grew up there. She and her beloved Lloyd were very special people.

I think Alice and I were the last 2 of Spotsy. class of
1944. The last time I saw her was at a grocery store.
Good woman. She will be missed. Lots of Gods love.
