Terry Wayne Vance
Terry Wayne Vance of Las Vegas, Nevada formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma died after an extended illness on February 5, 2022, at Centennial Hills Hospital with his son by his side. Terry was preceded in death by his father Ernie, his son Mitchell, and his baby brother Timmy. He is survived by his son Christopher and husband Matt, his two grandchildren Jordan and Jett and their mother Amber, his mother Billie and her children Pam Poole, Tim, and Kelly Vance as well as several beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Terry grew up in Berryhill, the small town he loved. His parents moved their family to Berryhill when he was in the 3rd grade for the sense of community and the other benefits you get from growing up in a small town. Terry was highly involved with athletics and loved playing football more than anything. In high school he was a star athlete and a highly sought-after college prospect.
After high school Terry married and had two sons that he adored. The boys also grew up in that same small town until his youngest, Mitchell, entered high school. A family decision was made that led this long time westsider to move across the river allowing Mitchell to play baseball for Tulsa Memorial High School. Terry really enjoyed participating in his children's extra-curricular activities, so much so he became the Charger Baseball Booster Club president for two years.
Terry was the executive director of the RESSA Foundation of Bartlesville, a non-profit organization aimed at the advancement of higher education and community involvement.
He enjoyed traveling the country with founder, Tom Sears, and having the opportunity to meet so many devoted and influential educators.
Though Terry retired to Las Vegas officially in 2018, he had regularly travelled there to visit his children for years. Terry loved his family more than anything and moving to Las Vegas gave him the opportunity to spend more time with his sons and grandchildren: participating in athletics, attending regular family gatherings, and his favorite thing of all, swimming, and sunning in his son's backyard.
Terry had a lifelong commitment to his faith in God and was a long-time member of Evangelistic Temple in Tulsa. He re-dedicated himself to Christ on June 13, 2021, with his Las Vegas faith community: Canyon Ridge Christian Church. His family finds comfort knowing that he is now home with his son and at peace.
Services will be at Spirit Life Church at 2pm on Saturday March 5th.
