I have always remembered my encounter with Mr. Johnny Johnson and his lovely wife Jean when they came to Mt. Sterling, KY for an art show sponsored by Dr. Robert Haynes who was over the Education Foundation at the time. Mr. Johnny and Ms. Jean both treated me as though I were family and I have never forgotten how comfortable they made me feel. I STILL have and STILL cherish the rose painting he gave to me, my mother and sister. Our loss is Heaven's gain!

Our love and prayers are with your family. We will remember Johnny Johnson always for his wonderful kindness and generosity. Every encounter we had with him was special and we always left feeling inspired. He taught us art in a Germanna Community College night class in 1987. He took calls to donate his art to Rappahannock Big Brothers and Big Sisters and always always said yes. For a 40th birthday we bought his art and are so honored to have it in our home. We were lucky to see him speak at the Johnny Johnson day in 2018. He was and always will be an amazing person and we will miss his presence in this world. Our hearts are with his family. Thank you for sharing him with the rest of us.

I was about 10 years old when I met Johnny P. He lived at 1308 Charles Street next door to my godmother, Hattie Wheeler and I usually saw him when I visited her. I have not seen him in many years but remember his banter with my godmother that kept me laughing. Not only did he have a great sense of humor but I have two memories of his kindness. During a visit with my godmother, I was playing outside with my cousin and I cut several fingers on a piece of glass. My fingers were bleeding profusely and I was almost in tears. Mr. Johnson saw me in my distress and came to my aid. He didn't scold me but gently administered first aid, stopped the bleeding and made my fingers feel better. His second act of kindness occurred when I asked him if he could provide an artistic drawing for the cover of my wedding program. I wasn't sure that he remembered because I only had one conversation with him. Not only was his artistic drawing ready in time for my wedding, but he did it for free. What a generous man, A Man for All Seasons, loved by all who knew him.
My deepest sympathies to the family. May God comfort you now and in the days ahead.

To me, Johnny was a living example of what it means to be "conformed to the likeness of Christ".
To paraphrase a favorite line from the movie "The Princess Bride" I am pretty sure "those words do not mean what I think they mean." But, at today's celebration of his life, immersed in the love expressed by so many his life had touched, we were blessed with clearer vision of whatever the reality of it is.
Thank you, Johnny, for the blessing of sharing that vision. Thanks to the family and church for capturing and presenting it so clearly.
Grace and peace to all, and to all you hold in your hearts.

I am honored to have been among Mr Johnson's very 1st class (6th grade) at Walker Grant. He was young and handsome and we all loved having him as our teacher, especially the girls. We attended the same church and there he was my sunday school teacher. I shall always remember his teachings and later in life his friendship. He has earned his reward in heaven, may he now rest in peace.

Please accept our sincere condolences from the Robinson family. For many years as a small boy growing up in Fredericksburg I visited Mr. Johnson's studio downtown and was amazed by his art but more by his presence and grace. My grandmother Marion Robinson was a deep admirer of Mr Johnson and he was considered a dear friend by my father Clair. Our family is extremely proud of all the amazing artwork Johnny has given us and his paintings are often the most valued gifts we've passed down in the family, but more importantly we were proud to have merely known such a wonderful man. May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to the Johnson family. I knew Mr Johnson through UPS, where I worked, and through my friendship with the late Mary Bridgewater and her daughter, Pamela. He was so kind to my family when my late great-nephew had brain cancer. He gladly donated a painting for a benefit we had to raise funds for his medical bills. Rest In Peace Mr Johnson, but you left a legacy that will never be forgotten here on earth.

There are so many thoughts that cross my mind when I think of JP Johnson. A man of integrity, a humble man, a gentle spirit who considered the heart and feelings of others and a generous man who graciously gave time , shared talents and gave gifts of love. A man strong enough to speak against that which was wrong or improper. He had a ear to listen because he genuinely cared and had the gift of discernment to know what is truth. As everyone who knows him, I have a few stories and conversations that I will always remember. I am so thankful for him in mine and my families lives. To the family: I pray God's many blessings over you at this time of loss. I pray that God will comfort you. I pray that you will find peace in remembering an awesome husband, father, grandfather, and more.

Although it will never go out, a wonderful light has been dimmed in the universe. Knowing the Johnsons from childhood, has been an honor and a privilege in my life. Mr. Johnson (6th grade and high school) was my favorite teacher of all time. (Mrs. Johnson (4th grade) ran a close second.) He always had time for a kind/encouraging word for anyone. He leaves a legacy of kindness, integrity, and wholesomeness for us all to emulate. Thank you Mr. Johnson

Mr. Johnny P. Johnson touched so many lives with his talent, guidance, kindness and love for his fellowman.
He will always be a shining star spreading love, kindness and generosity. Our family will always have fond memories of our time-shared living on Charles Street many years ago. I have always been grateful for his generous donations of art to the Fredericksburg Counseling Services Fund raiser when I served on the board. May God continue to bless his family now, and, in the days, ahead.
Sincerely,
