TOMAH - Dawn N. Hawkins, age 72, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away October 31, 2023, at Liberty Village. She was born March 27, 1951, to Boris and Lorraine Schwed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dawn spent her career as a teacher. Her patience and love of educating impacted many students over the years. She was united in marriage to Gary Hawkins on June 18, 1989, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. Dawn was a faithful Christian woman. While living in Altoona she was a member of the Methodist church and after moving to Tomah became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was always jolly and had a positive outlook.

She is survived by her brother, Raymond Gary Schwed (Lorna Rosenow) of Tomah, WI, daughter, Desiree Glass of Chicago, IL, granddaughters, Nikki and Gina, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Boris, mother, Lorraine Granica, stepfather, Stephen Granica, her husband, Gary Hawkins, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 17, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tomah. Pastor Rogness will officiate. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Exeland, Wisconsin. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
