Jo Reid Obituary

Jo Ann Joyce (Amundson) Reid

Our beloved Mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and woman of many titles throughout her life, Jo Ann Joyce Reid (Amundson), passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, early morning of July 13, 2025. Jo Ann was born August 24, 1936, to Viola Maybel Amundson (Loveland) and Axel Teodor Amundson in International Falls, Minnesota. Jo Ann was the 4th child in a family of 8 children. After the death of Jo Ann's father, Axel, her mother, Viola, remarried to Harold Elroy White and they moved their children to Kelso, Washington, from Minnesota in 1945. Jo Ann attended public schools, including Kelso High School. Jo Ann met her late husband, Harold Llyod Reid in 1952. Jo Ann and Harold welcomed their first of 8 children, December of 1953. Jo Ann worked various jobs in Bartending throughout Rainier, Oregon as well as Kelso and Longview, Washington but her passion and love for taking care of people led her into a career in Nursing. Jo Ann obtained a certificate for a Registered Nurse aid, and she worked at The Frontier Nursing home during the 1990's then eventually went back to work bartending. Jo Ann had a love for all people that came into her life; she was a social butterfly, and a very compassionate person who gained many friends wherever she went. She loved playing Bingo, going to yard sales, and going for scenic drives. Jo Ann is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, and 5 siblings, including Annabelle, Aurthur (Bud), Robert (Bob) Amundson, Geraldine (Carol), and Harold (Chub) White. As well as 4 children, Rebecca Jo, Clinton, Calvin, and Curtis (Scott) Reid, and a grandson, Zachariah Shawn Reid. Jo Ann is survived by her sister Barbara Johnson(White), brother Terry White, her children Marlene Romag (Reid), Daryl (Clay) Reid, Christopher Reid of Longview, Washington, and Cory Reid of Gladstone, Oregon. 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, as well as great, great grandchildren. A memorial service will be set for a later date.
