Christine M. Howard

November 3, 1972 - January 22, 2026

Christine (Tine) Marie Howard, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend, full of kindness, joie de vivre, and love, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026 with Jim, her loving husband, by her side after a lengthy illness.

Tine is survived by Jim Sweeney (husband); Kelsey and Emily Sweeney (step daughters; Janet (Longerbeam) Howard (mother); Greg and Carrie Howard (brother and leettle seester/sister-in-law); Joseph (feline fur baby); extended family, and many friends. We will miss her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and undoubtedly cherish her memory. She is preceded in moving on by Greg Howard (father), Mr. Boo and Van Gogh (feline fur babies), and Brie (canine fur baby) who have all welcomed her on the other side.

Though born in Arlington, Virginia, she grew up in Fredericksburg, attending elementary, middle, and high school. All institutions became internationally famous for having had her as a student. She earned her Associates degree and eventually worked for Geico, then Progressive, as an auto insurance adjuster and other things.

Tine was one of the kindest, nicest, and funnest people many of us may ever meet in our lifetimes. She loved her family, the outdoors, wine festivals, shows, travel, cruises, beach week and, above all, doing them with family and friends.

We will miss her terribly, but are better for having known her. And she'd be tremendously embarrassed by all of this attention, then laugh and smile.

The family will host a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 22, 2026, 10 am at the Stevenson Ridge Event Venue, 6901 Meeting St., Spotsylvania Courthouse, VA 22553.
