Nancy Redmond Obituary

Nancy Hyde Redmond passed away Friday, January 30th, with her loved ones present. Nancy is survived by her beloved grandson, Sean Redmond; sister, Barbara Hyde Fariss (Carl); daughter-in-law, Mary Goonan; nieces and nephews, Kevin Hyde, Tracy Havermann, Kurt Hyde, Eric Hyde, Kim Harpring, Randy Fariss, Kim and Karrie Kohlhaas and Karla Curran, many nieces and nephews; and best life friends, Betty Newman and Jane Hardee. Her boys, Kevin McDonald, Danny Small, Blake Crowe, Rick Mitchell and Donald Morton. Preceded in death by her son, Richard Redmond III; parents, William and Daisy Hyde; brother, Thomas Hyde; and sister-in-law, Ruth Kohlhaas. Nancy was born in Alexandria, Va., where she lived until 2012 when she moved to Fredericksburg, Va., to be closer to her son Rick and grandson Sean. She attended Madison College and went on to work in the insurance business for 40 plus years. She was the President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Northern Virginia and the President of the Business and Professional Women's club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alexandria for 75 years and an active member of Chancellor Baptist Church. She was an avid reader, lover of her family and animals, and devoted mother and grandma. She loved the Washington Nationals watching every game she could. Nancy loved going to the beach. Every year the family took a trip to North Carolina and no matter how cold it got you could spot her on the beach reading her book and listening to the waves. This past year she was able to take one last trip to North Carolina where she was able to stay on the water and stare out into the ocean all day long. Nancy, Sean and Mary spread Rick's ashes into the ocean, a place he always wanted to be. Celebration of life will be held on March 21st at Stevenson's Ridge Riddick House at 3 p.m. Casual dress attire.
