Sante Iatonna

IATONNA, Sante Passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 27th, 2011 at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and daughter at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Michelina (Tullio) for over 62 years. Loving father of Antonia (Tonie) Iatonna of Orlando, Florida. Surviving brother of Nicola & Vincenza Iatonna and Carmine & Assunta Iatonna and predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Italy, Windsor, Detroit and Montreal. Sante was born in Settefrati, Italy. He proudly served in the Italian Army during WWII. Sante was a proud member of the Ciociaro Club of Windsor and The Society of La Madonna Di Canneto. He was a proud life long fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He enjoyed spending his summers tending to his garden and fall time was dedicated to making his famous homemade wine. Sante enjoyed helping others and lived for his loving family. The family would appreciate donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or The Society of La Madonna Di Canneto. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Roxanne Chow, Charge Nurse Mona T. and the entire 8th Floor Stroke Unit Nursing Staff of Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital for the comfort and care they provided for Sante in his final days. Funeral Visitation at Janisse Bros-Marcotte Funeral Home (519-253-5225) 1139 Ouellette Ave., Windsor on Monday August 1st, 2011 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers at 4:30 p.m. Funeral service Tuesday, August 2nd at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home and then to St. Angel Merici Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Entombment in Greenlawn Mausoleum.
