My heart is broken in a million little pieces upon learning the World lost a rare, good man, and my most beloved art instructor, 11 years after his passing. I still have a photo Frank gave me when I attended NHCC in 1979-1982; a snapshot he captured from high above in the IDS Center of three cars - red, yellow, and blue - stuck together in downtown Minneapolis traffic. He had a gift of seeing things others didn't. I've thought of Frank throughout the years and always believed I'd see him again at an art show or simply passing briefly on the street.

The warm sun
beams through the clear air
Upon glistening leaves.
And the birds
sweep in long arcs
Over the green grass,
They seem to say,
"This might last forever!"
But it doesn't.

My sincere condolences to his wife, Robin.

Frank was my teacher from 1981-1984 at NHCC. He tought me drawing and printmaking, enhancing my ability to draw but more importantly to see. He had an important influence on me artistically and I think of him often. I remember the ease at which he could draw and his large luminous ariel landscape canvases done in his Bay Area Figurative style, and his love of a large expansive sky. I have good memories of his quick wit, humor, insights and a late night at Stand Up Frank's. It is sad to know he has passed without telling him how glad I was to have been his student. I wish his wife Robin and family well and that they continue to find comfort and joy in their memories of Frank, as many of us still do.

You've been gone 8 years Frank. Deb and I speak of you often. We miss your
dry sense of humor. We have some of your work on our walls. You were a
talented guy. Hope to see you again. God Bless. Brother in law Darrell Cameron 11/26/2017

Frank was my close buddy at Weber State. The memories of our antics together is still fresh in my mind. One thing that stands out is our trip to San Francisco, staying at my grandmother's home in Novato then cruising San Francisco's North Beach and hitting the jazz clubs. It was the first year we could drink legally, Tom Collins was our choice of cocktail...yuk!!!!
I'll miss his dry wit and artistic hand.

Please accept my very tardy condolences on Frank's passing -- I kept watching the St Paul paper for information. Frank was a good neighbor, friendly, but not intrusive, concerned for our community. There always seemed to be some project going on on the other side of the fence, and Frank in the middle of it! I will miss him. If I can help in any way, just give a shout over the south fence --

I am deeply saddened at Frank's passing. He was a very special person. I have two pieces of Frank's artwork and I treasure them. I greatly admired one very large piece of his work that hung on a wall in the Fine Arts Building. I tried to figure out a way I could purchase it and HANG it, but being I lived in a teeny tiny condo it was not to be. But I did get a much smaller piece that was done in the same technique! And I love it!

Rest in peace, Frank.

Seems like we've known Frank forever. Pake and Frank were classmates and drinking buddies at Weber State College in the early 1960's. Frank visited us in Amsterdam in the early 1970's. In the 1980's and 1990's when we made our annual pilgrimage to MN we spent many happy hours shopping at antique malls & shows with Frank and Robin (while never once passing up an opportunity for breakfast, lunch or dinner along the way). Frank and Robin visited us in Hawaii in 2008.

Through all these years, the one thing we could count on was Frank saying or doing something totally unexpected. Now he's gone and done it again! Frank, we're gonna miss you.

I had the pleasure of having Frank as a teacher in the graphics program at N.H.C.C. in early 1990 through 1995. I related to Frank on a friendly scale due to the fact that I was an older student and he took me under his wing. Frank, I would have to say, was the most brutally hard teacher I had ever had-- AND I loved him for it every day that I was there. He was absolutely brilliant in Printmaking and he changed my life with his fabulous teaching ability. I took Printmaking I and II from him and all of the art that I did in his classes is still, today, my favorite and the favorite of every one of my friends that sees my art today. I would consider Frank my MENTOR in the art world and I am deeply sorry that I was never able to verbally tell him that! I do think he knew how devoted I was to his techniques and ability, however, because we would talk through many projects and laugh throughout our day. The art world will truly miss Frank. His paintings were equally gorgeous, as well, and inspired me with his use of color and faceless people. Truly a loss on earth, but his teaching will inspire many in Heaven. Love you Frank!

Frank taught me a lot about art at North Hennepin College, a lot about humor after class, and a lot about love after meeting and working with his wife, Robin. His art graces our walls (along with Robin's) and we are blessed to have had you in our lives. We'll miss you dearly, Frank.

I wish I had known Frank better. Our meetings were few, but pleasant. But it was mostly through updates from his wonderful wife Robin that I felt I knew him.

Let me know if there is anything I can do from right up here on Baker Street. At the least, our dogs can play!

Frank was my instructor in 1989-1990 at NHCC. I have many fun memories of him and his humor. I was sad to have come across his obituary the other day. When I think of my college days Frank always comes to mind. He was beyond a teacher, Frank was a friend. Sad to hear he has passed.

I just heard the news Friday night and couldn't tell for sure if it was really Frank until now. I'm so sorry. I've been chopping up red peppers at the sink and with each one another memory came to mind. Camping with Frank and Robin, Peter and Mary Ann, me and Greg. And now all three of them—Greg, Peter, and Frank have left us. Although they never really leave. From climbing the ranger tower in Kathio St. Park, to camping at Au Galle and eating steak cooked over the fire, to talking until dawn. What times we all had together. He looked at the world in his own uniquely Frank way, he'd say something outrageous, and then he'd check out of the corner of his eye to see your reaction. And then he'd laugh. And then the big and generous heart at the center. Ahhh Frank.

I enjoyed wonderful breakfasts and lunches with Adam's father, Frank. I will always remember him as a kind and generous soul with the wonderful ability to fit in funny witty comments in conversations:) He will be dearly missed and I know that he is not too far from everyone, just a prayer away.

Dad,

I wish you were still here so I could hear your voice, see your smile and tell you that I love you. I miss you so much! It's not fair that you passed away so soon when there were so many things I still wanted to say or do with you. I hope and pray I can see you again in the after life so we can talk and share a laugh. See you around.

Your loving son,
Adam

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Frank will be dearly missed in the neighborhood, especially across the fence. He was always up for good conversation and cared greatly for others. His efforts to clean-up our neighborhood are greatly appreciated. We will fondly remember his artistic creativity and love of life.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. Remember, we are just next door. Please ask if there is anything we can do.

Love,
The Fiebich Family
