Beverly Strutz nee Markley was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Ogema, Wis., to Bill and Edna Markley. The family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1935, and she lived there until she passed away on Dec. 16, 2014. She married Dick Strutz, her high school sweetheart, in 1950. They raised seven children on Abbott Road, where Dick still lives today. They served at Abbott Loop Community Church and later founded Anchorage City Church. Bev will be remembered for many things but mostly for her love of God and family. Her deep abiding faith in Jesus compelled her to share her testimony with nearly everyone she met. She lived her faith every day: taking in strangers, giving to the poor, visiting the sick and encouraging the weary. She is survived by her husband, Dick; siblings, Gladys Jones, Evelyn Givens, Colleen Rutledge and Bill Markley; children, Richard and Carey Strutz, Jim and Janet Strutz, Marie and Dick Scouler, Lindy and Richard Irwin, Ronda and Jerry Martens, Colleen and Ron Halsey and Cindy Lamson; 20 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Anchorage City Church, located at 1301 West 100th Avenue, on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Beacon Hill at www.beaconhillak.com
or mailed to P.O. Box 241764, Anchorage, AK 99524. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
