`Alfred "Fred" Ditchkus

AGE: 85 • Toms River

Alfred "Fred" Ditchkus, 85 of Toms River, passed away on November 3, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, NJ, he grew up in Harrison. Fred married his wife Eleanor in 1956 and was happily married for 60 years. Fred and Eleanor raised their children; Michael, Lori and Judy in Middletown, NJ. He retired in 1990 then moved to Toms River in 2001.

He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.

He worked his full professional life for General Motors and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

Fred was a quiet and easy going man. He was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the game of poker. For a period of time he was an accomplished brewmaster.

Fred was predeceased by son, Michael and his wife Lenora; brother, John and his wife Loretta; brother-in-law, Clark Williamson; nephews, Christopher and Douglas Williamson; and brother-in-law, George Bilaitis who passed away recently on December 5, 2016.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; daughter, Lori Cohen and her husband Gary and their children, Julia, Nicole and Aaron; daughter, Judy Brown; and sons, Gregory and Jeffrey; and nephew, Anthony, and nieces, Lisa and Laura.
