Jane Segal

Of Lexington formerly of Newton on July 28, 2004. Beloved wife of the late Robert E. Segal. Dear mother of Ellen S. Landau and her husband Burton J. of Rydal, PA., William G. Segal and his wife Joanne F. of Lexington. Devoted grandmother of James and his fiance Lesly Solomon, Richard Landau and his wife Hiromi, David Segal and his wife Jillian, Amy Mason and her husband Ron. Loving great grandmother of Emily, Jessica, Katherine and Joseph Landau, Aaron, Chloe and Jeremy Segal, Matthew, Michael and Julia Mason. Dear sister of Marianne Brecher and the late Therese Lehman. Devoted Aunt of Stephen Brecher, Mary Jane Manger and her husband Jack, Linda Plaut and her husband Frank, Martin Segal and his wife Rosie, Jeanne Rees and her husband John. Born in Cincinnati, OH in 1910 Jane graduated from Hughes High School and Bryn Mawr College where she majored in French. She spent her junior year studying at the Sorbonne in Paris. Jane supported many liberal causes, civil rights and women's rights in particular. She was a past president of The League of Women Voters in Newton, a member of Great Decisions and Amaranth and with her late husband, a founding member of Temple Shalom of Newton. Services at Temple Shalom, 175 Temple St., West Newton on Monday Aug. 2 at 10:00 am. Following interment at Sharon Memorial Park, a memorial observance will be held at the home of Joanne and Bill Segal until 5:00 pm and resuming 7:00-9:00 pm Monday and Tuesday 3:00-5:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.
