We got to know Tom through business, but he was such a gentleman that he made you feel like you had been a friend forever. I always enjoyed the time we spend talking and he will be dearly missed.

I will always remember and appreciate how Tom took care of my mother, his Aunt Evelyn, whenever she visited her sister in Roanoke. He was a true gentleman and a kind, considerate, caring nephew. I am proud that he was my cousin, and I will miss him very much.

My condolences to the Bent family. Tom was absolutely a true "Southern Gentleman", and his passing is indeed a loss. He and his entire family are a pleasure and a true gift to be accquainted with.

Jamie and I were sharing special memories on our drive to Charlotte. When I asked him about his favorite memory he smiled and started to laugh. He said he remembered when they were on a trip together and there was a free breakfast at the Embassy Suites. Tom had gotten up early to eat his breakfast and then when the rest of the "guys" woke up, he went down and ate again. Jamie said they had fun teasing Tom about that for years. My favorite memory was at Karen's wedding. It was so fun and special to watch them dancing with Tom in his flip flops. Karen is very blessed to have had such a special Daddy. It was evident how much he loved her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you! Let us know if you ever want to head to the beach!

I went to school and paled around
with Tommy in the late 50's. I remember him as a fine fellow and am sorry to hear of his passing

It was our good fortune to meet Tom eating over a trash can at the Hornets games. A fast friendship formed and sharing a trash can for our "Hornet's game dining" became a ritual that we looked forward to.These excursions led to our families bonding in a round about way. Elsie, you have been an added bonus in our lives and Karen, it has been such a pleasure to see you grow from an adolescent to a beautiful young woman with a lovely family of your own. This is such a sad time and we hope you know we are thinking of you with love. We will always carry Tom in our hearts remembering his "gusto", delightful sense of humor, and loyalty. His friendship has been a priceless gift to Cliff that he will always treasure.

Elsie and Karen,
Tom was a special "adopted" brother and we will miss his happy and funny conversations. We will pray that your deep sense of loss is soon replaced with the loving and happy memories you have of Tom. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Tommy and Nancy House

We went to school together in Roanoke. I have lived in Union County for 28 years and never knew Tommy lived here. He was a friend.

Elsie and Family,
Tom will be greatly missed. I worked with him at Belk where our cubes were side by side. What a great guy he was. I deeply regret I will be unable to attend his service on Saturday. Please know that you and family will be in my thoughts and prayers. May you have many fond memories of your love one. God's blessings.
