Muriel Parkinson Obituary

We are sad to announce the peaceful passing of our mother on January 28, 2013, in St. Joseph's Hospital, with family by her side. Muriel was born on January 5, 1923 to William and Ellen Mary Barnes in Blackpool, England. She was married to Bert Parkinson on October 11, 1945 and moved with him to Canada in 1947. Muriel worked in the Credit and Audit departments of Sears for many years. She was a member of Trinity United Church and shared her beautiful voice by singing in the choir each week. She enjoyed walking and was an accomplished knitter. Muriel is survived by her brother Bill and sister-in-law Ida; children Melanie and Neil (Diane) and grandchildren Stacey Larrett, Stephanie Siemieniuk (Dan Boychuk), Stephen Parkinson (Nicole) and Phillip Parkinson (Lindsay). She was a loving great-grandmother to Jacob, Hailey and Rebecca Larrett (father Jason) and McKinley Roy. She is also survived by lifelong special friend Doris Bailey and family in England. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Bert (1982); son-in-law Moe (2009) and brother Jack. Cremation has taken place with arrangements in care of the Blake Funeral Chapel. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Special thanks to the support staff at P.R. Cooke Apartments and to the staff at the Adult Manor House Program. You helped to give her a better quality of life. Thanks also to the great team on 2N at St. Joseph's Hospital.
