Walter Gerald "Jerry" Steed, Jr., age 76, Inverness, FL passed away April 10, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital - The Villages, with his loving family at his side. Jerry was born in Brooksville, FL on February 2, 1945 to the late Walter G. Steed, Sr. and Myrtle M. (Markham) Steed. He lived in the Citrus County area most of his life. He practiced barbering for 53 years in both Inverness and Bushnell since 1967. He proudly served our nation in the U.S. Air Force. After returning home, he further fulfilled his civic duty by serving in the position of an elected Citrus County Commissioner.
Jerry loved the Lord. He was excited to share the Word of God with everyone he met. For 45 years, he served as a youth minister, Sunday School teacher and deacon. For the past nine years, he was a faithful member of The City Ministries Church in Wildwood where he served as an Elder.
Outside of Church, Jerry loved to farm, garden and raise animals. He shared many fond memories fishing, hunting and camping with his children and grandchildren. Jerry also loved music, played the guitar, fiddle and had a beautiful singing voice.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tarliece Steed, Inverness, FL; three children: Marie Steed-Tharp, Inverness, FL; John (Michelle) Steed, Floral City, FL; Paul Steed, Mayo, FL; two stepsons: Devin Chavers of Missouri and Donovan Chavers of Illinois; four brothers: Larry Steed, Floral City, FL: Wayne Steed, Bushnell, FL; Don (Diane) Steed, Floral City, FL; Elwyn Steed, Floral City, FL; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Steed in 1986; his son in law, Brian Tharp; two sisters in-law: Renee and Marie Steed. In addition, there are two gentlemen who were "best of friends" to Jerry: his Bishop, Tony Jones (Pastor, The City Ministries) and Gerry Wimer; and a host of other family members and friends.
