Powell Stevenson Obituary
Powell T. Stevenson, age 79, passed away peacefully January 11, 2020.
Powell and Alice (nee McSparron), married nearly 60 years, raised and loved three children and nine grandchildren. Predeceased by son, James. Devoted father to Thomas (Fran) and Rebecca (Ed) Shields. Proud Pop-pop to Jake (fiancé Carly), Taylor, Jesse, Madison, Abigail, Edward, Griffin, Connor, and Owen.
Raised in Haddon Heights, NJ, Powell graduated from Haddon Heights High School in 1959. He humbly boasted that after eleven years of night school, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers University in 1971.
As a Safety Consultant for more than 55 years, Powell worked for renowned local and national businesses, as well as operated Four-Safety. He was an active member on safety and drug-free committees, including: NSMS, ASSP, NJ State Industrial Safety Committee, and JCC. In 2013, he was named the Safety Professional of the year for the Penn Jersey Chapter of ASSP. In 2018, he was honored for his work on the Governor's Council for Drug and Alcohol in the Workplace and Partnership for a Drug Free New Jersey.
Powell could be found either coaching or watching his children and grandchildren compete or perform. As a die-heart football fan, Powell rooted for the Rutgers' Scarlet Knights. Until the day he passed away, a football never left his side. Powell lived life passionately, always with a friendly smile.
Friends may greet the family after 10 AM on Saturday in the Budd Funeral Home, 522 Salem Ave., Woodbury, NJ 08096. Memorial service 11 AM. Memories may be shared at www.buddfuneralhome.com.

So, so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Powell in a mutual safety compliance effort, and enjoyed the camaraderie. He only had one issue I can remember and it wasn't a bad thing. He could never stop talking about his grandson's sporting achievements. He was by far the proudest Grand Pa I've ever talked with, or actually listened to. He'll be dearly missed. God Bless his Soul.
