Chet Currier Obituary

Currier, Chet
Chet Currier, a Manhattan Beach resident since 2005, died July 29 in Santa Monica after a long battle with prostate cancer. He was 62. Born in 1945 in New York, N.Y., Chet spent most of his life in southwestern Connecticut, growing up in Greenwich and returning to start a family in Darien after serving in the Navy during the Vietnam War era. He worked for the Associated Press for 29 years before moving to Bloomberg News in 1999. For a long time he also enjoyed constructing crossword puzzles. Aside from his professional career, Chet was an avid sports fan who enjoyed going to games at all levels, from high school football to the New York Yankees and just about everything in between. He also loved horse racing, making regular trips to Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Del Mar. Chet moved with his wife, Carol to Manhattan Beach in October 2005, spending the time since working for Bloomberg out of the company's Los Angeles offices. Chet is also survived by his daughter, Dana, 27, of Chicago; and son, Craig, 25, of Los Angeles. A memorial service is planned for 11:00 am Saturday, August 25th, at Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, Conn. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire School, 245 N Undermountain Rd., Sheffield, MA 01257. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
