Pat H. Olmstead, 58, of Valleyview Ave., passed away at Ellis Hospital on Friday, July 3, 2009, after a long illness. Born in 1950 in Oneonta, NY, he was a son of Dale K. Olmstead and Mary G. Gallagher Olmstead Smith. Pat was a graduate of Oneonta High School. He was an avid hunter, NASCAR and Yankee fan and loved camping with family and Harley Davidsons. He was a lifetime member of the Voohreesville Rod and Gun Club. Pat is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Karen (Lyons) Olmstead; his loving daughter, Laurie (Jim) Touchette of Rotterdam; and his loving son, Kyle Olmstead of Oneonta; his beloved mother, Mary Olmstead Smith of Rotterdam; three loving grandchildren, Emma, Katie and Adam Touchette of Rotterdam; and three beloved brothers, Mike Olmstead of Rotterdam, Jim Olmstead of Oneonta and Gerald Olmstead of Brooksville, FL. Pat was predeceased by his father, Dale Olmstead; his stepfather, Ronald J. Smith; and a brother, Robert Olmstead. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, Inc., 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Monday, July 6, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Immediately following, funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family . In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that donations maybe made to the Animal Protective Foundation of Schenectady, 53 Maple Ave., Schenectady, NY 12302. Pat's family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the A-6 Nursing Staff of Ellis Hospital and to the Visiting Nurses of Schenectady for their compassion and support during Pat's illness.

We are so sorry to hear about Pat. We were on vaction and just hear about Pat. We will miss seeing him and know that he is in a better place. If you need ANYTHING Karen please call us. We will be stopping by to see you soon.
