One can hardly think of Calvary Baptist Church in Newport News without seeing Mr. Whitlock singing a stirring solo. He and Mrs. Whitlock meant so much to so many! He will be sadly missed. We will keep the family in our prayers.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the family, Mrs. Whitlock, Eddie and Tim. It was a pleasure knowing your father/husband and living on Howard Court. What a wonderful kind human being. I only have good memories of him growing up. I know he is now in a perfect place and hope he says hello to Zeb, Zeb Jr., Liz, and Linwood for me..
Much love to you all and God Bless you,

'Caring' & 'Generous' really does describe Doug Whitlock. I was lucky to live across the street from Doug & his family. Their door was always open. Doug & Edd both knew my folks since they dated, and it was always fun to hear the stories - which were not appreciated as much as a teen, as i appreciate them today. Condolences to Edd, Tim & Eddie, who indeed had a wonderful husband and father. Gail (and Steve) Kiger (Bonsey)

Heavens Choir receieved a new lead tenor with Doug. One of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard and one of the most sweetest men I have ever met. Our condolences to you Ed and your children and family. Doug has finally met his glory that he sang about all of these years. God Bless You and please let us know if may be do anything for you. We are both down in health and not able to attend but Doug deserved Calvary and a full choir home going service. We love you! Johnny and Mary Lou Shanks

Uncle Doug was a sweet and dear person. He was loved by all his in-laws; his mother-in-law, his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law's, and his nieces and nephews. He and Aunt Edd were such a devoted couple and so kind to all. He was always proud of his sons, but those grandchildren were a special treasure and brought him so much delight. And did he ever love sports! All sports! I will always remember visiting Newport News just a few years ago for a cantata and his voice was still strong and beautiful. We will miss him so much.
