Samuel J. Scott, Sr., "Scotty" was called back to heaven on Tuesday, March 5, 2021. Born in Mobile, Alabama, he has been a resident of Hampton since 1962. He retired from the City of Newport News as a Chief Engineer.

Samuel leaves to cherish memories of his Beloved Wife and Helpmate of 54 years, Ann Chavers Scott, Daughter, Marcia Cosby (Michael) of Suffolk, VA, Sons, Samuel J. Scott, Jr., (MariVic) of Newport News, VA, David Scott (Rhonda) of Newport News, and Sean Scott of Hampton, VA, five Grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one future great-great-granddaughter, nieces, cousins, and a Host of Wonderful Friends.

Scotty,
I still can't believe you are not here with us in the flesh, but I will be forever grateful for God's inspiration to interview and record your life story on Feb. 9, 2021.
That video will now live on as a keepsake to your wife Ann, your children, grand children, great grand children and many others.

I'll always cherish the memories of how you came to my aid in various ways as I grew up and taught me many skills in carpentry and home building as you remodeled your home on several occassions (smile). And how you came to my rescue with a new door lock in hand when I broke my key in the door to my home, pushed my stalled car down the street to safety, and helped get posters made for me when I ran in a pageant at NASA Langley and proudly introduced me to the late Katherine Johnson and many other special Engineers there.
You are already greatly missed, but I'm so happy that God kept you in our lives this long.
I'll see you again one day in glory.
