I remember Roland walking from work up St.Johns Road to his home, and all we kids used to run after him when he was power walking after work from Whit Moor. He was well loved by us all.

Condolences to the family and friends. I met "Uncle Chuck" in the 1950's and he gave me half a crown! I think he was in Bradford to present the prize at the "Whit Walk" which was a great annual event in those days. I've always thought it was the 1948 Olympics he had been in, didn't know too much about him or why he was "Uncle". I don't know if he was actually related: my father was Stephen Johnson, if anybody knows a connection please contact me via www.ruthsown.space
