WEBSTER, Charles Daryl We celebrate the life of Daryl who died peacefully on December 16, 2010 in Edmonton at age 72. He leaves to treasure his memory: Fran, his beloved wife of 46 years and best friend; his sons Scott (Gloria) and Brent (Jacquie), and daughter Shona Nichols (Darren); grandchildren Drew Forward, Brad Webster, Marc Webster, Jade Webster, Alexander Nichols, Zoe Nichols and Austin Webster; and brother Duane. Daryl was born December 14, 1938 in Rouleau, SK to Paul Ervin Webster and Florence Helen Broadfoot and raised in Regina, SK. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a chemical engineering degree in 1961, and moved to Edmonton in 1968 spending his career working in computer science and information technology, mostly at the University of Alberta Computing and Network Services. After his retirement, Daryl continued his strong interest in computers by generously helping family and friends, both near and far, to solve their computer problems. Daryl was a kind, sincere, honest and humble man who led gently by example, seeing the good in others. He was protective of and a rock of support to his cherished family. "Grandchuck" loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially at the family cottage at Madge Lake, SK, and playing Santa to youngsters at the annual Christmas party. Friends and neighbours will remember his gentle soul. A private Celebration of Daryl's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully received by the Cross Cancer Institute (11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2), whose staff provided unwavering support to Daryl during his ten year journey with prostate cancer. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Allison Theman for decades of astute care and guidance.

Jim, Margaret and Bill were sorry to learn of Daryl`s passing after many years of friendship in
in real life.

To be more exact Daryl and Jim were classmates at Balfour Technical High School graduating in 1956.

During their later high school years it took a project in the Senior Webster`s house of changing the dining and living room lighting system to bring them together as friends. The boys following high school graduation enrolled in the Engineering Department, the Saskatoon Campus of The University
of Saskatchewan. Following graduation both boys followed their interests in different directions.

During the period of changing the lighting system I being Jim's older brother with a car would pick him up at the Websters' around 10 PM following a work session----thus the after 10 Coffee hours at the Websters became a wonderful experience of holding or tearing apart world systems. When Daryl took off for other places and came home he would fall into the discussion quite easily.

In time Daryl with a family moved to Edmonton. And in time I (Bill) moved to Edmonton and renewed visits to the Webster household for coffee, lunches and dinners and sometimes just good old talks around politics or other local, provincial, national or world subjects.

Thanks Daryl your discussions and realistic approach will not be forgotten---Thanks for the memory.
Our Condolences to Fran and the family
