I knew Gerda firstly on Block Central and then on The Quilt and Needle Forum. Gerda was one of the most thoughtful, kind, supportive, generous, knowledgeable soul I have known. Gerda was constantly in my thoughts and prayers in the months before she passed and I was truly saddened upon returning from holiday to learn of her passing. This touched me more than I thought and I stil find it difficult to think about Gerda without shedding a tear. She was extremely kind to me earlier in the year when I was moving my parents out of their home into a care home, she sent me several cards containing heartfelt messages. I will miss her support, knowledge and humour. I consider myself very lucky and proud to have her come into my life.
Heartfelt sympathies and prayers to Bill, her son and daughter and her grandchildren who she loved beyond measure.
Rest in peace dear sweet Gerda, you are wrapped in God's arms now.

I am so sorry I didn't get your message about Gerda's passing. She was more than a friend to me more like a sister. When we both started to work at A&W years ago we bonded right away. Of course we shared about our husbands and families and she was always interested about my grandchildren as well. It was just a few months ago that we went to Tim Horton's for tea and a donut and after she told me that she was so tired after she went home and thought it was the flu. May God comfort you in your sorrow. She was certainly a most wonderful person.

I never met Gerda in person, but feel I knew a lot about her through her brightly colored quilts and her Internet chats and messages. I participated in several online quilting groups with Gerda, and she was always able to help find a pattern or a fabric we might be looking for. I have blocks that Gerda made in several quilts and will always think of her when I am quilting. She will be greatly missed. Prayers and hugs to her family.

Our hearts all broke when we received the news of Gerda. She was one of the best internet friends a girl could have. A mountain of knowledge for us quilters and those of us that did the Redwork quilt block swap with her years ago. She had friends and touched lives all over the US, Canada, Australia, China, and other places I am sure. Gerda was a very special lady in each of our lives and in our yahoo quilt grps. She will be missed so much. She spoke often of her precious granchildren, children and Bill to us. Her life was short lived, but she certainly filled it with much joy every day!! We love ya dear sweet lady and know we are keeping Bill, and the family in our prayers! Go with God now and rest, you have earned your crown of glory.

Gerda was such a wonderful woman. She was an inspiration for so long. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. We called her Marian the Librarian because she always found what we couldn't. In 2008 I joined an online quilting group called Block Central. That is where I first met Gerda. Then I was introduced to The Quilt and Needle and low and behold she was there too. She may have lived in Canada but she traveled around the world through the internet and visited with us all in our own homes. She always had the most encouraging words no matter how dicouraged you might feel. She was always so helpful finding ANYTHING you might need. Whether it was an attachment for your machine, a certain fabric or pattern or just a tutorial for something you might not know how to do. She was the fountain of knowledge! She left us way too soon and now we are all grieving her loss but she is rejoicing! She was a wonderful Christian woman and a breast cancer survivor! All I can say is that our Lord must have needed her fountain of information more than we did. She leaves the "librarian" shoes very empty and I don't know that there is anyone who will ever be able to fill them like she did! We will always love you Gerda! And I will remember you with every stitch in every quilt I ever make! ? Your dear family is in my prayers! Hugs to you all!

My thoughts and Prayers are with all of you as you go through this difficult time. I knew Gerda from an online Yahoo Group and to say she was special is never enough.I felt like I knew her personally. She sent me the sweetest note when my Mom passed in January that I will never forget. I know that all of you are probably just like she was and she would never want you to dwell on the sadness, but remember the happy times. She will be missed by all the gals here and we wish all of you the best.

It was such a shock to hear of Gerda's passing -- I guess I never expected she would ever let anything get her down, especially some nasty germ from within. She was always so upbeat and positive about life, her family, and her hobbies. Gerda was so compassionate and giving of her time and resources to others less fortunate. She truly earned her nickname, "Marian the Librarian" with all the wonderful sites and tutorials she found on the Internet for us to enjoy. She was a great internet friend and mentor, sharing her wisdom and skills with us all. She will be greatly missed by all her Groups--Block Central, Scrappy & Happy, the Quilted Table, Quilt & Needle, Seasons, and other groups she belonged to.

Rest in peace, Gerda, and know that so many people are hurting with your loss.

I was really saddened to hear that Gerda had passed away. She was such a friend of great compassion and humor who always saw the bright side of every situation.

She was such a font of information that everyone could go to at any time and she usually could find what you needed. She will be greatly missed and her family will be in my prayers to help them get through this difficult time.

Rest easy knowing that Gerda is with our heavenly Father and has a new body that will not fail her. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother because she always spoke so well of her family and I know they will miss her. She was also an awesome friend to so many of us quilters and we will miss her kindness greatly.
