Virginia Johnson

Melbourne, Fl - Nov 8, 1932-Dec 18, 2020

Virginia was born in 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of Lillian and Harold Wilkinson. She graduated from Southeastern High School in Detroit with High Honors. At University of Michigan, she became the Speech Department Office Manager and in 1952 married Dale Harold Johnson.

She traveled extensively with Dale when he served in the Army. Virginia especially enjoyed her time in Germany. While stationed 2 years in Augsburg, Germany, son Christopher Dean Johnson was born.

They briefly returned to Michigan where daughter Carrie Lynn Johnson was born in 1962. Later that year, the family moved to Indialantic, Florida where Dale established a busy Dental practice. Virginia was both Office Manager and Dental Assistant for over 20 years.

After Chris went to college, she took a position at Belk Department Store as Sales Associate then was promoted to Office Manager. She retired from Belk after 20 years.

Virginia was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church since 1963, serving on the Church Council and a Choir Member. She was Church Treasurer for several years as well as Treasurer and Secretary of the Women's Group.

She lived at Lakes of Melbourne for twenty years. She became their Treasurer and was on the Homeowners Association Board for many years.

Virginia enjoyed travel both in the US and abroad. She loved playing the piano, going for long walks, bicycle riding, playing cards (she was quite the Poker player, frequently winning tournaments), fishing and visiting Disney World.

Virginia is preceded in death by daughter, Carrie, husband, Dale and brother, Frederick.

She is survived by son, Chris, Nani Golden, sister-in-law Mickey Wilkinson, niece Tammy, great niece Suzanna, and the whole beloved, adopted Panizza/Kuntz Families.

Virginia was a wonderful Mother, beloved Friend and she will be truly missed.

I had the privilege of doing Mrs. Johnson's hair for over 40 years. We weathered a lot of storms together. She was a straight forward person with a great sense of humor. I will always treasure the few minutes I spoke to her not long before her passing. She was a great lady and a good friend. I feel very blessed to have known her for all these years. My heart goes out to Chris, I know he was her world. My very deepest sympathies to you, Chris.
