Martha Carolyn Gates Brock

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Carolyn Gates Brock 71 will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday August 11 2005 at Englewood Baptist Church with Dr. Philip Jett Dr. Brent Lay and Dr. Paul Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens with Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Brock died Tuesday August 9 2005 at NHC Healthcare in Milan TN. She was born February 3 1934 in Carroll County TN daughter of the late Cecil W. and Nancy Waller Gates and was educated in the county schools. Mrs. Brock had made her home in Jackson for most of her life. She was a retired employee of the Wal-Mart south store. Mrs. Brock was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters Peggy Reed and Naomi Bishop and two brothers Orrin Gates and Clayton Gates. Survivors include husband of 51 years Hoover Houston Brock of Jackson and to whom she was married on July 3 1954; two daughters Tina White and husband Mark and Rhonda Butler and husband Kenny all of Jackson; two brothers Bill Gates and Norman Gates both of Jackson; three grandchildren Jonathan White Travis Butler and Ryan Butler and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers to serve are Daniel Gates Dennis Waller Harold Puckett Alton Michael Cloys Matheney and David Taylor. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home 731-424-2424
