Joey Zanoni

Oak Ridge - Joey Zanoni, age 15, passed away unexpectedly January 3rd, 2021. Joey was born on July 19th, 2005 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Knoxville, TN, to his overjoyed parents, Bill and Christie Zanoni. No child has ever been wanted or loved more than Joey.

Joey was a Sophomore at Oak Ridge High School, where he excelled at his studies, playing the Alto Sax with the Oak Ridge High School marching band. Music was his life, and his eclectic taste of music was a phenomenal testament to his diversity as a human being. He began playing piano at the age of 3 and soon followed with guitar. Over the past years his love of guitar blossomed into and incredible talent that brought joy to anyone who had the opportunity to hear him play.

Joey had a passion for golf and was on the Oak Ridge Middle School's golf team.

Only second to his love of music was his love of Boy Scouts. Actively participating with Troop 129 from the time he crossed over from Cub Scout Pack 328. His countless outings and friendships made up an experience in scouts that molded him into the young man that he had become. He was aggressively pursuing his Eagle Rank with the hope of finishing within in the year.

Joey loved to travel and by age 7 he had traveled to over 23 states and multiple Caribbean islands. He hoped to travel and see the world with Italy, Greece and Japan being his top choices. His love of Disney World was second to none with over 70 trips to the parks and resorts. Truly his happiest times were spent riding the rides and enjoying the food.

Joey's light and love cannot be contained. It beamed from his green eyes and his quick smile, which he was always eager to share with anyone and everyone. He touched so many lives it is hard to grasp the impact that he will continue to have on people. "No man is a failure who has friends" and Joey is the most successful man we will ever know. He will be so missed in a way that cannot be described in human words. Our Lord and Heavenly Father alone can only possibly understand the pain of the loss of a Son as we have.

A celebration of Joey's life will be held at Central Baptist Church, 130 Providence Rd Oak Ridge, TN at 2 PM on Saturday January 16th. I was looking through the obituaries on my I-pad and just accidentally touched this beautiful, sweet tribute to a wonderful young man. I never had the privilege of meeting Joey, but I can tell that he touched many people in good and positive ways. He obviously did more in his life than many do in very long lives. I want to offer my condolences to his good parents.
